How Do You Call a Server at a Korean Restaurant?
If there is a bell on the table, press it to call staff. If not, making eye contact or calling out lightly is fine too.

TL;DR — Press the call bell on the table if there is one / Water, side plates, and utensils are often at a self-serve corner / If there is no bell, eye contact or calling out lightly is fine
At Korean restaurants, pressing a call bell on the table is the usual way to get a server's attention, rather than raising your hand or calling out loudly. Not every restaurant has one, so it helps to know what to do either way.
How does the call bell work?
If there is a small button-style bell on or near your table, just press it. A staff member will come over to take your order or bring what you need.
Do I need to press the bell for water or utensils too?
Not necessarily. Many restaurants have a self-serve corner where you can get basics like water, side plates, and utensils yourself. Before pressing the bell, it is worth checking nearby for a self-serve corner.
What if the restaurant has no bell?
Not every restaurant uses one. If there is no bell, making eye contact with staff or calling out lightly is fine. This is not considered rude.
- Check the table for a call bell first
- If there is one, press it to call staff
- If you need water or utensils, look for a self-serve corner
