There's no restaurant in sight, so how does the fried chicken arrive at the Han River
Spread a mat on the grass and almost any patch of Han River Park becomes a deliverable address
By Find to Send Editorial

At seven in the evening, a traveler sitting on the grass at Han River Park for the first time pauses at one particular scene. A motorcycle pulls up somewhere nearby, and a delivery rider walks between the picnic mats, a plastic bag in hand, calling out someone's name. In a park with no restaurant in sight, how did freshly fried chicken get all the way here.
Evenings at Han River Park fill with people in casual clothes. Chicken boxes and beer cans sit on picnic mats, pig's trotters are laid out on portable tables, and the smell of food mixes with the river breeze. A first-time visitor, unsure where to sit or how to order, often ends up hovering near a bench with no mat at all.
The problem is simple. The park has no street number or building name, yet delivery apps demand a precise address. For someone new here, that feels surprisingly disorienting. Even looking at a map, it is not obvious how to describe exactly where you are standing.
In fact, the park's management and delivery platforms solved this problem long ago. The Han River is divided into districts like Yeouido, Banpo, Ttukseom, and Mangwon, and each district is further broken down into numbered sections. Delivery apps have these sections registered in their address search, so entering the park name and section number is enough to be recognized as a precise delivery point. Riders then close the final gap by calling or texting to confirm the exact spot within that section.
So what to actually do is straightforward.
- Pick up a mat or a portable table at a convenience store or the park's own kiosk first.
- Once seated where you want, enter the park name and the nearest section marker into the delivery app's address search.
- If the location feels ambiguous, note a nearby landmark, kiosk, or restroom in the order's memo field.
- When the rider calls, answer and guide them to your spot.
Leaving your trash behind is the one unwritten rule this place does not forgive. Sorting it into the recycling bins scattered through the park before you go is how you leave the next person their own patch of grass.
That evening, the unfamiliar traveler eventually spreads out a mat and answers the rider's call. Receiving food in a park with no address turned out to be less complicated than it first seemed.
