Do Korean City Buses Skip Your Stop If You Don't Press the Bell?
Yes — if no one is waiting at the stop, the bus won't stop unless you press the bell, and you usually need to tag your card again when getting off.

TL;DR — press the bell before your stop or the bus may not stop / if no one is waiting at the stop, the bus can just pass by / you often need to tag your card again when getting off, not just when getting on / check the announcements and screen as your stop gets close
Korean city buses don't automatically stop at every stop. You need to press the bell before your stop so the driver knows to pull over.
What happens if you don't press the bell?
If no one is waiting at the stop to get on, the bus can simply drive past. Pressing the bell is the signal that you want to get off.
How does the transit card work?
You tag your card when boarding, and on many routes you also need to tag again when getting off. This is how transfer discounts and exact fares get calculated correctly. It can vary by region and route, so if you're not sure, watching what other passengers do when they exit can help.
So what should you do?
- Tag your transit card on the reader when you board.
- Keep an eye on the next-stop announcement or screen.
- Press the bell before your stop arrives.
- Tag your card again at the door reader when you get off.
If you're unsure, press early — it's safer than passing your stop.
Getting to or from the airport?
You can request a pickup or drop-off between Incheon or Gimpo airport and Seoul or nearby areas. We confirm the vehicle and price first.
